U.S., Turkey Agree to Ceasefire in Syria

The United States has reached a ceasefire agreement with Turkey, Vice President Mike Pence announced Thursday.

Pence said that Turkey will suspend its military operations for five days to allow the Kurdish forces to leave the zone and that U.S. forces will aid in the retreat.

The agreement comes amid growing concern over Turkey’s invasion of Syria after U.S. forces were ordered to withdraw from the country, leaving Kurdish People’s Protection Units without support.

In addition to the ceasefire agreement, Pence says the U.S. and Turkey “committed to defeat ISIS activities in northeast Syria.”
