Tyson Foods is jumping on the meatless-meat train with plans to launch a plant-based nugget.
The nation’s largest meat-maker is launching its new brand, Raised and Rooted this summer.
Previously, alternative meat products have been left to start-up companies like Impossible Foods and Beyond Meat.
The line will also offer blended meat products including beef burgers mixed with plant products, as well as sausage and meatballs made with chicken and plant-based ingredients.
“Today’s consumers are seeking more protein options so we’re creating new products for the growing number of people open to flexible diets that include both meat and plant-based protein,” said Noel White, President and CEO of Tyson Foods.
Customers can expect to find the plant-based nuggets in stores later this summer, while the blended burgers will roll out in the fall.
