Rabbit Statue Sells for $91 Million

A statue of a stainless steel rabbit sold for a record-breaking $91 million dollars.

The statue, entitled “Rabbit” sold Wednesday at Christie’s Auction Company in New York.

The statue by Jeff Koons became the most expensive work of art by a living artist to ever be sold.

The sculpture debuted in 1986 and was displayed in several New York galleries before it was purchased by the recent seller in 1992.

Fox Business reports the buyer is art dealer Robert E. Mnuchin the father of the current U.S. Treasury Secretary, Steven Mnuchin.

The previous record of $90 million was set in November by British artist David Hockney for his 1972, “Portrait of an Artist.”
