Evansville Police have taken two people into custody after a shooting Saturday morning on Judson Street that injured one person.
Police say this isn’t the first shooting on this block. They’ve responded to shots fired on this street three times in the last week.
“There have been multiple shots fired runs at this residence,” Evansville Police Dept. Sgt. Greg Motz said.
Authorities responding just after 9 a.m. Saturday for initial calls of up to 17 gunshots – injuring one.
“This incident a person was shot, one of the individuals involved received a gunshot wound to the lower leg and was taken to the hospital, we have two subjects in custody now and we are working on the details,” Sgt. Motz said.
Bullets riddled a nearby neighbors houses – and they say they want the violence to stop.
“They came out on the porch check and there’s a bullet hole in my kid’s bedroom,” said neighbor Vi Johnson.
Neighbors think gang violence, drugs and guns are causing the biggest problems in the community.
“we are killing each other off and we are shooting each other in broad daylight and there’s children in that house,”said neighbor Monique Robinson.
Two suspects were taken into custody and police are still investigating who fired the gun.
“We are canvassing the neighborhood to see who saw what and try to get some help from the folks who have unfortunately been living down here and getting shot at just for living down here,” Sgt. Motz said.
Police and neighbors say they are still searching for answers – hopeful to get the violence to stop.
“We are trying to piece together what happened and once we figure out who did what we will go out to see why this happened and deal with all involved,” Sgt. Motz said.
We’re told nobody has been charged in this incident.
Anyone with information is urged to call the Evansville Police Department.
