According to a national employment report from Automatic Data Processing Inc. (ADP), private-sector employment decreased by 20,236,000 from March to April, as many companies were forced to shut down amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Employers with one to 49 workers dropped 6,005,000 jobs in April, ADP’s report shows.
Midsized businesses with 50 to 499 employees shed 5,269,000 million jobs.
Large employers with 500 or more employees let go of a staggering 8,963,000 workers.
Service-providing companies slashed 16,007,000 jobs in April, while businesses that produce goods shed 4,229,000 jobs.
