Memorial Students Hold Fourth Annual SamStrong Football Game

The Memorial community goes gold for the fourth annual SamStrong game at Friday’s game against Mater Dei.

Memorial High School Class of 2012 graduate Sam Featherstone battled brain cancer for three years before passing away on January 2nd, 2013.

Memorial students began the SamStrong football game four years ago to raise money for childhood cancer research.

While most current Memorial students did not know Sam, they consider everyone who’s gone to Memorial family.

So, it’s not hard for them to continue the SamStrong tradition.

“Sam left a really big impact on our school and he had a great message,” said Memorial senior Lauren Guiao. “He just wanted to help everybody.”
