Healing a Community After the Great World War

The International Peace Tree as it’s known, was planted for the purpose of healing a community shortly after World War One.

With a huge German population in Southern Indiana, and Americans fighting in a war half a world away, a once rich German-American heritage was threatened.

Local Historian Stan Schmitt offers some background on what led to this living tribute.

Its now the subject of this week’s Tri-State Treasure.
