Four Black Teens Fundraising for Football Team Held at Gunpoint

An Arkansas woman has been arrested after holding four black teenagers at gunpoint. Officers arrived at the home of 46-year-old Jerri Kelly on Wednesday, August 7th around 10 a.m., responding to a “suspicious persons” report.

According to CBS News, the teens, who were between ages of 15 and 16, were going door to door early this month, looking to raise money for their high school football team in Wynee, Arkansas.

Officers say the four teens were on the ground with Kelly standing over them with a gun. Kelly was arrested and charged with four accounts of aggravated assault, false imprisonment and endangering the welfare of a minor.

Kelly told officers she “feared for her safety” after a prior home invasion– denying race had a factor in her actions.

According to CBS News, Kelly felt remorse after the incident and offered to buy lunch for the four teens.
