Bridge officials are one step closer to deciding the fate of the New Harmony bridge.
The Indiana New Harmony and Wabash River Bridge Authority and the Illinois New Harmony Bridge Authority say they will be closer to finding out if the bridge can safely reopen.
Officials say they have selected the engineering firm Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc. to conduct an in-depth study of the bridge to determine potential reopening.
The study will focus on the structural integrity, safety, design, and construction options for the historic bridge.
From Monday through Wednesday, the firm will conduct the remainder of the study.
