Centers for Disease Control and Preventions Warns of Salmonella Outbreak Due to Backyard Chickens

According to The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a salmonella outbreak has been linked to backyard chickens. 52 people have been infected across 21 states, including one case in Kentucky and two cases Illinois. Five people have been hospitalized.

Most infections are linked to backyard hatcheries and agricultural stores. The CDC reminds everyone to wash hands after handling live poultry.
