LST 325, the Evansville Museum of Arts, History, and Science and the Wartime Museum are coming together to celebrate the 75th anniversary of D-Day.
From June 6th to 9th, the LST 325 will be moved and docked at Tropicana. Free tours of the ship will be offered June 6th from 1-5 p.m. and June 7th to the 9th from 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. generously sponsored by Tropicana, Vectren, Old National Bank, and Ziemer Funeral Home.
A private ceremony on June 6th will kick off the four-day celebration. The LST 325 will open for tours at 1 p.m. and the Air Force band will play 2-4 p.m. that afternoon.
The Evansville Museum of Arts, History & Science will host a special screening of the classic movie, Casablanca. Retired EVSC film studies teacher, Terry Hughes will provide commentary on the film’s place in cinema history. Attendees 21 years and older may enjoy a complimentary French 75 cocktail. Tickets for the show are $10 per person.
Throughout the four days, the Wartime Museum will have an exhibit, “75 on the 75th”, showcasing 75 D-Day artifacts. Dance the night away 40’s style on Saturday, June 8th at the Big Band 40’s Gala at Tropicana Riverfront Events Center. Social hour begins at 6 p.m. with a buffet dinner at 7 p.m.
The night will feature the 18-Member Evansville Symphonic Band from 7:30-9:30 p.m. Tickets are $45 per person and are available at the LST office, by phone at 812-435-8678 or at lstmemorial.org until June 4th.
