Reports are coming in that Tom Petty has passed away after suffering from cardiac arrest Sunday night in California. Petty was rushed to the hospital Sunday night after he was found unconscious, not breathing and in full cardiac arrest.
Emergency Management Technicians rushed to his Malibu home and were able to get a pulse. He was rushed to the UCLA Santa Monica Hospital where sources say he was put on life support, but those sources are also reporting life support was pulled after he showed no brain activity.
There is a do not resuscitate order, but he is still clinging on. The singer is not expected to make through the day.
Petty, who became famous with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers in 1978 with Breakdown, is 66.
Petty just wrapped a huge tour, ending at the Hollywood Bowl late last Monday.
