Police in Terre Haute believe the murder suspect at the center of an hours-long standoff last week broke through the police perimeter and went shopping at Walmart.
Michael Reynolds is accused of shooting and killing Amanda Kerns, and shooting Ronald Lawrence. The shooting led to a 20-hour standoff.
Police tell our affiliate WTHI that Reynolds didn’t stay in the home during the entire standoff. They say he left the home through a basement window around 3:30 in the morning, and went shopping at a nearby Walmart.
Reynolds eventually came back to the home involved in the standoff. He was later shot and killed by state police SWAT officers.
The Terre Haute police chief says they’re not sure when Reynolds returned to the home, but that the department has to be better than this.
