Anyone looking for something different to put under the Christmas tree, the students at Purdue University just might know what to look for.
Purdue Engineering has created a list of the top toys with a focus on science, technology, engineering and math.
The students put together what they call the “Purdue Engineering Gift Guide”.
The list includes options for toys and items they say have an educational value and last beyond a single session of play.
Instructors say the difficulty of finding toys that teach “STEM” pushed the students to write the guide.
Before a toy can make it into the guide, it has to pass an extensive review process.
It begins with an internal review by staff at the Inspire Research Institute, then Purdue engineers are brought in for their opinion. After that, it is time for the toughest critics: children and parents.
