One Arrested at Trump Rally Protest
Trump support and opposition didn’t stop after the rally ended.
9th street became the central location for protests and protesters on both sides gathered on opposite sides of 9th street.
Protester Renea DeLong says she was there to counterbalance Trump’s viewpoints.
“We’re here to counter protest what he represents and to let our voices be heard as well because there are a lot of people who do not support his agenda of hate” DeLong said.
The protests were nonviolent but anti-Trump protester Kelly Adams was arrested for mooning Trump supporters.
“Relatively peaceful as well I guess someone was arrested earlier I’ve never been to a protest before so it’s kind of all new to me” Trump supporter Terry Walters said.
Delong says she hopes both sides of the argument and people on 9th street have the same goals.
“For the most part it’s been very peaceful we’re here to have our voices heard and the other side I think feels the same way. We don’t have the same ideology but we’re all here for the same purpose and that’s to support our constitution” DeLong said.
Trump protesters say his Evansville rally did nothing to change their minds.
“Very negative I think he’s doing nothing more than reiterating hate, racist views, and a lot of negativity for country and I think we’re headed in the wrong direction if people are supporting him” DeLong said.
Trump supporters say it’s his divisive persona that draws them in.
“All the talk of him being presidential he’s not presidential and that’s what I like about him” Walters said.
