Cuddling programs for NICU babies in hospitals are a growing trend across the nation. The Rock-A-Bye Program at Methodist Hospital is no exception.
Chris Hedrick, known as Papa in the NICU, spends his time volunteering to give babies extra doses of love.
Parents must give consent before their babies join this program but most appreciate the opportunity for their children to receive extra cuddles in cases where the parents have to return to work and can’t be at the hospital.
Studies show sensory stimulation and touch to be important to infant growth and development.
