A new political action committee based out of Indianapolis makes its first appearance in Evansville. Known as the Ten 100 Committee, members say their mission is to put people of color in office.
The group held a fundraiser at the Evansville African American Museum Monday. State senator Eddie Melton, of Gary, was the keynote speaker.
Melton spoke about the American dream and his time in office to a crowd eager to learn about how they can get involved.
Sen. Eddie Melton said, “I was very impressed for them to look at a non-partisan issue to figure out how do we become more diverse in candidates running for elected office just like I mentioned earlier today having a diverse perspective and a more diverse environment gives us a more versatile look at society.”
Members of the Ten 100 Committee say there’s inequality in political action committees, which is something they hope to change.
