“Jersey Shore” star Mike Sorrentino sentenced to 8 months in prison for tax evasion.
Sorrentino, better known as “The Situation” was joined by his fiancé Lauren Pesce and was seen greeting his fellow “Jersey Shore” cast members before walking into court in Newark, New Jersey Friday morning. Mike Sorrentino pleaded guilty to one count of tax evasion back in January.
According to reports, Sorrentino has between 30 and 60 days to surrender. During that time, Sorrentino plans to marry his fiancé.
After serving his time, Sorrentino must complete 2 years of supervised release, 500 hours of community service, pay a $10,000 fine, and $123,000 in restitution, which has already been paid. His brother Marc was also indicted today on the same tax fraud charges and was sentenced to 2 years and a $75,000 fine. U.S. prosecutors had accused the two of hiding millions of dollars that Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino had made between 2010 and 2012 while starring on “Jersey Shore”.
The Sorrentino brothers were indicted last year for tax evasion and structuring and falsifying records, which followed a 2014 indictment for other tax offenses, in which federal prosecutors accused them of failing to pay taxes on more than 8 million dollars in earnings.
