McLean County Superintendent Terry Hayes has resigned from the McLean County School System. This comes after Hayes was suspended with pay last week.
Today, the McLean County Board of Education met to discuss Hayes’ future within the school system, and whether he should be suspended further or terminated.
The McLean County Board of Education accepted his resignation. 44News is at the meeting and speaking with Hayes and his lawyer.
There are several parents at the meeting who say they are upset with Hayes.
According to Hayes’ lawyer, the accusations of inappropriate conduct were simply untrue.
Hayes has served as Superintendent of McLean County Public Schools since 2015. He was named Superintendent of the Year by the Kentucky Educational Development Corporation in 2017.
Kentucky State Police have confirmed they have opened an investigation into this case.
