An Evansville man pleads guilty to a shooting that left a transgender woman hospitalized. Gerald Lewis pleaded guilty to attempted murder.
Two other charges, for robbery and carrying a handgun without a license, are expected to be dropped at his sentencing.
In 2016, Lewis was arrested for shooting Crystal Cash inside her apartment. Police say Crystal Cash’s gender identity may have played a role in the shooting. Cash was biologically born a male, but identifies as a female.
Lewis’ sentencing is scheduled for March 8th at 2 p.m.
