The human remains found on a farm in Boyleston, Illinois last month have undergone an autopsy. Our media partner at WFIW reports the remains will be sent to an FBI Identification Lab in Quantico, Virginia where they will undergo additional forensic examination.
The mystery behind how human remains ended up in rural Boyleston remains unsolved. It was an active crime scene for several days after the remains were found on December 27th.
Illinois State Police and Wayne County officials investigated, but the FBI is leading the case.
Many residents are speculating about the identity of the remains, but nothing has been confirmed.
The results of the autopsy have not been made public.
