While our students may have the opportunity to enjoy a more relaxed pace during the summer break, it is a very busy time for the EVSC. Every year we complete a long list of projects during the break, but two in particular stand out this summer.
In February of 2017 we broke ground on McCutchanville Elementary School after two full years of planning and preparation. The final parts of the project are being completed and I could not be more excited with the result. This state of the art facility will proudly serve the McCutchanville community for decades to come. On August 5th we will hold a community open house to show off this beautiful building, and three days later, around 800 students in grades prek through 6th grade will start their school year as McCutchanville Mustangs.
The other project that stands out this summer is the construction of our wee care early learning centers. In recent years we have committed to growing our early learning programs for young children. With wee care, we are expanding our early learning program to the children of evsc employees. We know that providing educational opportunities for our employee’s infants, toddlers and preschool age children is of great importance. We believe in providing the best benefits possible to our employees, in an effort to be the educational employer of choice in this region. These centers will open when school starts in august, and I am proud that our school corporation has made this commitment.
I’m David Smith, blessed to serve as the Superintendent of the EVSC.
