Jasper’s historic Astra Theatre will reopen on April 14th. With the $1.6 million renovation almost complete, Nashville recording artists Will Kimbrough and Patrick Sweany are set to reopen the historic Astra Theatre. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. with the performance beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Kimbrough, a former American Music Association “Instrumentalist of the Year”, will perform with a full band. Sweany, who first gained prominence as an acclaimed-acoustic blues guitarist, will perform an opening solo acoustic set.
Tickets are on sale online at The Next Act. General admission/main floor seating tickets are $16.95, balcony tickets are $24.95, and VIP packages are $29.95. For a limited time, you can use the code ASTRA2018 for two dollars off per ticket.
In November, the historic Astra Theatre launched its 2018 membership campaign to help fund the renovation and remodel of the building, along with programming events in 2018. Some of the renovations include new sound and light systems and seating.
Next Act, Inc. is in the final stages of the renovation of the historic Astra Theatre. The April 14th date closely aligns with the Astra’s original grand opening date of April 17, 1936.
Funding is still needed to close a financial gap and help eliminate or reduce the amount of money the Next Act will need to borrow to complete the renovation. 2018 Astra t-shirts are available for $25.
