Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, leads a high level American delegation as he met with Kim Jong Un for the 4th time.
After talking for 3 and a half hours, Pompeo said he and Kim made progress toward a comprehensive denuclearization deal, but wouldn’t give specific details about what exactly was discussed, or if any agreements were reached.
According to reports, Pompeo did manage to arrange a 2nd summit between Kim and President Trump. Pompeo explained by saying, “We had a good, productive conversation. As President Trump has said, there are many steps along the way and we took one of them today. It was another step forward.”
But some experts are saying the denuclearization process is stalled. North Korea has been demanding the lifting of some US sanctions in response to their dismantling of a major nuclear facility. But the Trump administration says that won’t happen until a final deal is in place, creating a possible diplomatic stalemate.
